Summary Aims of the Proposal

  • To provide a high-quality design that adds value to the local area and is appropriate to the Conservation Area.
  • To significantly improve the design and visual appearance of the proposed with the form, arrangement and materiality taking inspiration from their setting.
  • To considerably improve upon the relationship between new development and the existing neighbours from that of the implemented scheme by setting the building footprint back from West Hill Road and Seaview to increase separation distances.
  • To reduce the impact of the development on the neighbouring properties from the implemented scheme by substantially reducing the scale and mass and through the provision of multiple gaps in the built form to improve outlook and maintain a visual connection to the sea.
  • To incorporate more and larger landscaped areas and to preserve, enhance and integrate the existing green open space and biodiversity.
  • To holistically incorporate all technical considerations and site constraints into a cohesive and sensitively designed scheme.
